Coping with a lifelong medical condition, he did not see any way he could make it through college. With help from The Scholarship Fund, he is now living his dream as director of music.
Ryan’s Story
I was born with a serious medical condition that I’ve had to address for my whole life. But in spite of my dire prognosis at my birth, I’ve exceeded all expectations and reached adulthood with a rich and full life.
I have a fantastic career as the director of music at Casa Emanu-El United Methodist Church in East Dallas where I plan the music for services, direct and accompany the choir, and lead congregational singing. Without the help of The Scholarship Fund, I would not have made it through college, and a career in music would have been nothing but a dream.
Instead, the Fund made it possible for me to graduate from McMurry University in Abilene in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in music, emphasis on vocal performance and church music.
My passion is helping people experience God’s love through music—and thanks in part to The Scholarship Fund, I have both the tools and the opportunity to do just that.
“With help from The Scholarship Fund, I’m working on my bachelor’s degree in nursing, starting a career that will allow me more opportunities than ever before. Without help from The Scholarship Fund, I would not have made it through college, and a career in music would have been nothing but a dream.”
