She says The Scholarship Fund not only provided her with financial support, but also with a mentor who helped her reach her goals. She is now a staffing specialist in human resources.
Cindy’s Story
I was attending community college and working at Dallas ISD when I mentioned to a coworker that I really wanted to go for my bachelor’s degree but had no idea how I could afford it. That’s when she told me about The Scholarship Fund.
I don’t know what I would have done without their help. Not only did they give me the financial assistance I needed, but they also provided me with a mentor who encouraged me every step of the way. When I felt overwhelmed, she encouraged me to stay with it, to never quit. She was so right!
I earned my bachelor’s degree at UNT Dallas in the applied arts and sciences, and now I work in human resources as a compensation coordinator. I know I can continue to move up to higher positions, and it’s all because I got my degree.
I’m also a volunteer at The Scholarship Fund now, serving on the board of directors and as a member of the selection committee. Because they believed in me and invested in me, I’m the one who can set the example now.
